Final Four baby!

M's pysched and so is the rest of the family by the Patriots' run in the tournament. He watched today's win over UConn over at the GMU student center. We watched here at home. Even C, no basketball fan, is into it now.

E's been busy with various things - buying a dress for the prom, buying a dress for graduation, working with the color guard to paint their floor mat before they go to NC next week for a weekend competition.

C seems to finally be over her cold. I enjoyed getting out on my mt. bike for a while today, on a new trail that the county has cut across most of Fairfax. The part I was on was really rough, but that's half the fun, I suppose.

A winning weekend

Big news this weekend was that E's color guard won the competition it performed in, at a local high school. The girls did very well, and there were about 7 other schools in their class so it was a good test of their ability.

C and I were the trip parents, which meant C had to send out e-mails ahead of time to line up parent/drivers and I had to print out directions to the competition and hand them to folks as they came to pick up the girls at Chantilly High before leaving. Not too difficult tasks.

Thursday night C and I were out very late because we went to see M's band play in Georgetown. The guys went on about 11 p.m. and finished a little before midnight. We were the only parents to show. About 10 friends of band members came. The rest of the audience was the four or five guys at the bar. Shatterbelt sounded good.

Next gig is an important battle of the bands at another D.C. bar.

Monday night, C and I are going to see Ray Davies (if you remember the Kinks, he was the brains behind that band) at the 9:30 Club in D.C.

Busy times at work with all the breaking news and must-read stories. I see the D&C blogged President Bush's visit and that Jim contributed. It's the thing to do these days in journalism.

Shepherd it is

For those keeping up with the college search, it looks like we have a choice. E has decided Shepherd is where she'd prefer to go. We'll likely head up to see it in a few weeks, so we'll be getting hold of John S., I'm sure.

M and the band practiced here at the house for quite a while today. Got to get ready for the big gig in D.C. this Thursday night.

C is still battling a very bad cold. I've got a touch of one too, but nothing bad.

Couldn't quite believe the weather here the past couple days. T-shirt temps for running.

Slow Sunday

Quiet day in N.Va.

M has been recording a new song. C has a bad cold and has been reading and resting. E is out with a friend. I worked out and then did a little shopping.

Called Liz on her birthday. Seemed like she was being treated right.

Got an e-mail from Kevin Andrew, who seems excited about the alumni dinner gig. Now to figure out what to say and do!
