Tried my hand at fishing in W. Va. this morning. Don't think I had more than a nibble or two, but it was a beautiful morning and was nice to be out. C and I are taking a fly fishing course in May, which should be fun. Maybe we'll turn into outdoors folks yet.
E is starting another job this week -- hostess at a local restaurant. She and a girlfriend are also looking at apartments near here, so she may be moving into one soon if all works out. The top choice right now is an apartment complex next to Chantilly High School. Seems like that means she'll still be around a lot. She says school is going well and is planning on taking a couple courses in the summer too. Her latest thought is to add a criminal justice minor to her psychology major. I see a TV crime show in her future.
M, meanwhile, remains very comfortable in his basement digs.
Watch USA TODAY.com on Tuesday for (we hope) the debut of "USA TODAY On Politics."

Check your pet food!
Attention pet owners:
In case you didn't see it in On Deadline Friday night or the newspapers this morning, there's a recall of some cat and dog food. We found two ''flats'' of cans we just bought (Iams brand) are among those being recalled.
Checking your cans varies a bit by manufacturer, but you can get started here.
Aspen and Fenix are very upset by this, as you can imagine.

Last skiing for the season?
Maybe.
Spent a couple hours on the slopes at Canaan early Saturday. By 10:30 or so it was getting close to 55 degrees and the snow was getting a bit slushy, so I headed back to the "cabin." But it was fun while it lasted -- and I ran into a woman who knows where LV is. We were talking on the ride up the lift and it turns out her husband is from Machias.
We got back to Chantilly a little after noon. In mid-afternoon we took the dogs for a walk and the local family that every year is in charge of the Boy Scouts' mulch sale had a big pile of bags in their driveway and a sign that they'd cut the price by a $1 a bag to get rid of what they had left. We ended up getting 30 bags -- took two trips in the SUVs to get it all back to our house. Guess spreading mulch will be next weekend's project.
Both E and M have the week off from school. E has a job interview Tuesday at a local women's clothing store that she likes. M likely will work quite a bit and hang with his buds quite a bit.
Glad Bridget's cat made it safely across the continent.
For you Amazing Race fans, if you haven't seen tonight's episode yet -- you're in for a shock!
